Türkiye is one of those countries that is indescribable. With landscapes out of a dream-world, ancient ruins that transport you to the past, and food that will make you want to cry its so good, we quickly became captivated by its charms.

Turkish lira. Find the current exchange rate here. We recommend carrying cash with you as not every place will accept cards. There are ATMs all around the country that accept visa or Mastercard. Make sure to tell your atm card provider you are traveling!

The official language spoken in Türkiye is Turkish. Arabic and Kurdish are also spoken depending on where you go. Most people understand English, but it's helpful to learn at least some basic words and phrases before you come.

Religion & Culture

Most Turkish people follow Islam, and a large majority are Sunni Muslims. Türkiye has a traditional culture and is very tolerant of tourists with different cultures. Bring modest clothes, especially if you want to go inside a mosque (which you should definitely do).

Electric Plugs

220V, 50Hz. Europlug Type C and Type F plugs. If you have an older laptop charger, it may not convert the input power to the required one, causing your cable to get damaged (speaking from experience). Make sure you invest some money and get yourself an AAC/DC converter.

Getting Around

In Türkiye you can easily get around using a taxi (order it via the app or find one near you), the local bus system, metro, or by domestic flights. The taxis in Türkiye were some of the nicest and most honest drivers we've ever experienced!

Travel Stories

From surfing the Black Sea in Türkiye to dog-sitting for a month in Rabat, Morocco - we’ve had more than a few adventures along the way.
